Blue or Red

It’s like the 80’s all over again, Everton and Liverpool in Wembley! I would of preferred the final but beggars can’t be choosers I suppose. Merseyside Derby on one side, north London derby on the other, four teams trying to salvage a season that is either on the way down or add to a successful season so far.
But this weekend means so much more, pride of the city? One up on a family member or best friend? A side bet with a work colleague? A facebook status disaster? Wembley will be awash with Blue and Red on saturday afternoon as Moyes and Dalglish lead their men onto the pitch, the crowd will scream with their high pitched scouse accents. Brothers and Sisters will text each other across the imaginary war field that has seen these 2 teams battle so many times before! Family members, one in blue and one in red will jeer, taunt and ridicule each other’s team. I’m sure texts will be flying around on saturday afternoon between me and a few close friends too!
When is comes to football form goes completely especially derby games let alone cup games, so I’m not even going to call this one! Everton will be without their best player this year Pienaar and Liverpool will be without Reina? Come 12:30pm on saturday I will be on the edge of my seat, sweaty hands, old school jersey and a bunch of diehard toffees around me. It’s times like this i feel sorry for people that don’t support a team or even have an interest in football, it’s goosebump time!
Also this saturday there will be a minute silence in memory of the 96 fans who lost their lives in Hillsborough, a sad day for everybody involved in football! I just hope it’s not a dirty match, a fair match and a positive outcome for the blues of course!
